Aethos London Shoreditch uses AI-powered network to support hotel operations
Aethos London Shoreditch has installed a new wired and wireless network from HPE as part of a refurbishment completed in under two months. The technology is designed to keep guests and staff connected while helping the hotel’s IT team spot and resolve network problems more quickly.
The 164-room hotel replaced its previous network infrastructure with HPE switches and wireless access points, including an access point in every guest room. Put simply, the switches connect devices to the hotel’s network, while the access points provide Wi-Fi. HPE Aruba Central gives the IT team one place to monitor and manage those connections.
The “self-driving” element refers to software that uses AI and automation to analyse how the network is performing, identify potential issues and help resolve them. For example, HPE says problems that previously took hours or days to diagnose can now be identified and resolved in minutes. HPE reports a 90% improvement in operational efficiency following the installation.
Reliable connectivity also supports the digital tools staff use around the property, including mobile point-of-sale systems, digital menus and inventory tracking. The network connects with building management systems used to control lighting and the indoor environment. According to HPE, its platform can also provide information about energy use and the carbon impact of the hotel’s IT infrastructure.
For guests, HPE says the system can recognise returning guests and members across properties, providing secure connectivity through single sign-on and allowing devices to stay connected as people move around the hotel.
“Aethos operates at a superior level of the market: experience-led, design-driven, built for a new generation of traveler,” said Jake Greenall, General Manager, Aethos London Shoreditch. “To support that standard, we transitioned to a secure, AI-native network with HPE. The result is a highly reliable and autonomous infrastructure that gives us greater operational visibility, predictability, and control, allowing our team to focus less on technology and more on the guest experience.”
Aethos plans to use the installation as a model for future properties as it expands across Europe through hotel conversions and restorations.
“HPE is helping Aethos build an AI-native, self-driving network foundation that keeps pace with the demands of modern hospitality,” said Mark Weeks, UK & Ireland Sales Director, Networking, HPE. “By combining experience-first intelligence, unified infrastructure, and built-in security, we can help Aethos simplify operations, scale efficiently, and deliver a consistently exceptional experience for every guest and every property.”
