The fast lane: Why hospitality needs tech now more than ever
)
Matt Hodgins, Project Director for Hospitality Tech360, taking place at Excel London on 30 March - 01 April as part of Food, Drink & Hospitality Week, discusses the ambitions behind the launch of the new show dedicated to connecting hospitality operators with the latest tech to streamline their business functions.
Technology is evolving at an extraordinary pace, and for hospitality operators that’s both a challenge and an opportunity. Across the sector, leaders are being asked to do more with less: improve efficiency, engage overstretched teams, and meet soaring guest expectations, all while keeping an eye on profitability. The pressure to adapt has never been more intense.
At the same time, the solutions are out there. And that’s exactly where Hospitality Tech360 comes in.
“It’s a difficult market to make a profit in, and tech does give you the edge,” said Tom James, Managing Director at Bill’s Restaurants and a keynote speaker at our previous event. “What tech is doing is giving you a clearer, easier, more productive way of doing traditional tasks for everything from the creative process to accounting to menu analysis, financial analysis.”
Tom’s team used to review their tech quarterly. Now it’s fortnightly. And they’ve reduced management admin time by 30% in the last year alone.
Increasingly, for many business, these aren’t small wins. They’re survival strategies.
The big why
Hospitality Tech360 (HT360) was born out of hundreds of conversations with decision-makers across restaurants, hotels, pubs, and cafés. We heard one consistent message: the sector needs help cutting through the noise.
The sheer volume of emerging tech is overwhelming, from AI, automation, robotics, cloud platforms, CRM tools, dynamic pricing, loyalty engines. Operators need a way to make sense of the market and identify the right solutions for their specific challenges.
HT360 is here to help the industry do just that: thrive by finding the tech that works. And our first show takes place at the Excel in London on 30th March to 01 April.
For Ceri Gott, culture coach and former Chief People Officer at Hawksmoor, it’s an opportunity to engage and learn. “I’m particularly excited to learn about how tech has evolved just in 12 months because it is going so quickly. The tech companies are now increasingly collaborating with businesses and with people, so what have they learnt and what are they doing? And also hearing the lessons around implementation. My experience of hospitality is people are so generous in terms of sharing their lessons with others.”
The urgency has never been greater
The global hospitality tech market is forecast to reach $50 billion by 2030. In the UK, AI adoption in the sector has doubled in just three years, reaching 21% in 2025.* This suggests two things: the appetite for innovation is real and growing. But there’s still a long way to go.
“Operators tend not to be the most tech-savvy,” Rob Flinter, Regional GM at Westmont Hospitality Group told us. “They might be systems-savvy, but the tech world moves so quickly it’s hard to keep up.”
When it comes to tech, operators aren’t chasing shiny objects. They’re solving real problems, whether it’s improving staff retention, making inventory management smarter, or understanding guest behaviours in more meaningful ways.
“Anything that brings extra time to deliver great hospitality or look after teams better will bring serious advantage,” said Fernanda Antonio, People & Culture Director at Caravan Restaurants. “There’s still a gap in hospitality-focussed tech.” And HT360 is helping close it.
Powered by people who get it
HT360 is more than a three-day event. It’s a 360-degree movement designed to help leaders stay ahead of the curve, not constantly chasing it. From targeted show-floor sessions and live demos to digital content, buyer programmes, and exclusive insights, HT360 connects the most innovative tech providers with the people who are ready to act. We’ve built it to speak directly to senior decision-makers who are driving real transformation in their businesses, from C-suite leaders to heads of operations, finance, HR, and marketing.
HT360 is produced by Montgomery Group, a global events business with 130 years of experience and a legacy of delivering industry-leading hospitality trade shows including, Hotel Restaurant and Catering (HRC), The Pub Show, IFE and IFE Manufacturing, which are co-located together with HT360 as part of Food, Drink and Hospitality Week, and Independent Hotel Show.
“We know how this sector thinks, operates, and grows,” says Philippa Christer, Portfolio Director. “HT360 is built on the foundations of what we already do best: creating spaces where innovation and industry meet.”
The future starts now
At HT360, we’re not just spotlighting solutions, we’re giving the sector the tools to act. This is where the right buyers meet the right suppliers. Where data meets decision-making. And where hospitality finds the confidence to grow again.
If your product solves a real-world problem, if it can boost margins, unlock time, or elevate the guest experience, then HT360 is the platform to showcase it.
“HT360 couldn’t come at a better time,” says HT360 partner Chris Fletcher, Founder and CEO of Tech on Toast. “We need a space that treats hospitality tech with the same importance we give to food, design or service. A show like this signals that tech is now central to how we operate, scale, and survive.”
