07 May 2026 Chris Fletcher, Tech on Toast

The till as we know it is disappearing. But the POS as a platform is more important than ever. Here's what that means for restaurant design, operations, the customer experience, and where the next wave of hospitality technology is headed.

  • Hospitality technology is set to play a major role during this summer’s World Cup season, with operators looking for smarter ways to manage demand, increase spend and improve the guest experience.

  • The Hospitality Innovation Lab was launched by the Hospitality Sector Council in partnership with L Marks and the Department for Business & Trade to help accelerate innovation across the UK hospitality sector. The programme connected leading hospitality operators with emerging technology businesses, enabling them to test new solutions in real-world environments and explore how innovation can address some of the industry's most pressing challenges.

  • The Hospitality Innovation Lab was launched by the Hospitality Sector Council in partnership with L Marks and the Department for Business & Trade to help accelerate innovation across the UK hospitality sector. The programme brought together leading hospitality operators and emerging technology businesses to test new solutions in real-world environments and explore how innovation can address some of the industry's most pressing challenges.

One of the businesses selected to take part was ADECI, a forecasting technology company that uses machine learning to help hospitality operators predict sales, covers and product demand with greater accuracy. During the programme, ADECI worked with Burger King UK and Azzurri Group to explore how advanced forecasting could improve workforce planning, operational efficiency and site-level profitability across dozens of locations.

We spoke to the ADECI team about their experience in the Hospitality Innovation Lab, the insights gained from working with two major hospitality operators, and how the pilot has shaped the next stage of the company's growth in the UK market.

  • Discover how 1Huddle partnered with Prezzo and Lincoln Green through the Hospitality Innovation Lab to improve compliance training, menu knowledge and employee engagement using AI-powered game-based learning. The pilot demonstrated significant improvements in skills development, knowledge retention and workforce performance.
